I am the new Research Marketing& Communication Coordinator for College & External Relations at Yukon College. I am brand new to Whitehorse, having moved here from Saskatchewan for this role in October 2018.
Originally from Edmonton, I have moved around quite a bit - chasing mountains, sun and/or surf! Following high school, I moved to Banff for 3 years and experienced 300 day snowboard seasons! Then off to Calgary for 5 years where I completed my undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Applied Business & Entrepreneurship, majoring in Sports and Recreation Management and moved to Saskatoon in 2011 to complete my Masters of Business Administration. I then took the opportunity to do a two year working holiday in Australia- driving the entire country and having the privilege for not one, but two outback cattle ranch jobs. Moving back to Saskatchewan in 2015, I dove back into my marketing career with a fresh focus and clearer direction.
My experience in the fields of marketing and communications has spanned over a decade in a variety of industries, including, but not limited to government, not-for-profit, technology, construction and sport and recreation. Two years ago, I took a step back from the corporate world to start my own marketing consultancy and pursue a dream career with my art. The opportunity to be, even a small part of the transition to Yukon U, supporting College research, and coming to live in a postcard made this an easy decision.
Alongside my corporate experience in marketing, I was also a sessional lecturer for a few years at the University of Saskatchewan and for a few semesters at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. Classes taught include: Intro to Events, Business Events, Business Communications, Intro to Marketing, Marketing for Entrepreneurial Ventures and Intro to Business
In my spare time I continue to work alongside a few former colleagues from University of Saskatchewan as a co-author on a case study and interactive learning initiative based on my own art company, Den Designs. When I'm not at my day job at the College, you can likely find me at Yukonstruct - keeping my art business alive! I also really enjoy getting outside: hiking, biking, fishing, camping, snowboarding, you name it! And taking my one-eyed rescued dog, Betty White along for every adventure.
